Frequently Asked Questions
01
How much wedding coverage do we need?
Most full wedding days require around 8–10 hours of coverage, depending on your preparations, ceremony, locations and reception formalities.
Coverage begins when we arrive at the first scheduled location and runs continuously throughout the day. If you’re unsure how many hours you need, send us your ceremony and reception times and we’ll help recommend the right coverage and build a photography and film timeline around your day.
Additional coverage can also be added if needed.
02
What is your shooting style?
Our approach is a mix of documentary storytelling and editorial portraiture.
For most of the day, we focus on genuine moments as they naturally unfold—the emotions, movement, people and little details that make the day yours. When it comes to portraits, we’ll step in with relaxed direction while keeping everything natural and true to you.
We’re drawn to beautiful light, shadows, movement, rich tones and imagery that feels timeless and nostalgic.
03
We've never had photos taken. How do we pose?
That’s completely normal. Most of our couples aren't used to being in front of a camera.
You don't need to know how to pose—we’ll guide you throughout the session with simple direction and natural prompts so you can focus on each other rather than the camera.
Nothing overly stiff or forced. The goal is for you to feel comfortable, have fun and still look incredible.
04
How do we book?
Booking is simple:
-
Choose your collection and complete our questionnaire.
-
Review and sign your agreement.
-
Pay the 25% booking retainer.
Once the signed agreement and retainer have been received, your wedding date is officially secured.
Bookings are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
05
Do you do pencil bookings?
We don't offer tentative or pencil bookings.
Your date is officially secured once your signed agreement and 25% booking retainer have been received.
Until then, the date remains available for other enquiries.
06
Do you recommend a second photographer or videographer?
Not every wedding needs one, but we recommend considering a second shooter for larger weddings, multiple preparation locations, tight timelines or when you want more extensive coverage.
Having two shooters allows us to capture different perspectives simultaneously—for example, both partners getting ready, guest reactions and alternative ceremony angles.
If you're unsure, tell us about your plans and we'll recommend whether adding a second shooter would genuinely benefit your day.
07
Why book photography + film with one team?
One team means one creative vision and a smoother experience.
Because our photographers and filmmakers work together regularly, we understand how to move around each other, coordinate timelines and capture the same moments without competing for space.
It also means fewer suppliers to coordinate and a consistent visual approach across both your photographs and wedding film.
08
Do you travel?
Absolutely.
Travel throughout Metro Melbourne and the Yarra Valley is included in our collections.
For regional Victoria, interstate and destination weddings, additional travel costs may apply depending on location, transport, accommodation and the length of the assignment.
Send us your wedding location and we'll provide a clear quote before booking.
09
How many photos will we receive?
Every wedding is different, so the final number depends on your coverage, timeline, guest count and the events throughout the day.
As a general guide:
• 8 hours — approximately 400–600+ edited images
• 10–12 hours — approximately 600–800+ edited images
Every delivered photograph is individually selected and professionally edited in our signature style and supplied in high resolution.
We focus on delivering a complete story rather than hitting an arbitrary number of images.
10
When will we receive our photos/videos?
Our standard turnaround times are:
• Photo sneak peek — within 7 days
• Full photography gallery — approximately 4–6 weeks
• Cinematic highlight film — approximately 6–8 weeks
• Ceremony, speeches and documentary films — approximately 8–12 weeks
Turnaround times may be slightly longer during peak wedding season.
Need everything sooner? Priority delivery is available as an optional add-on.
11
How long will our online gallery be available?
Your online gallery will remain available for 6 months after delivery.
We strongly recommend downloading your complete gallery and creating your own backups as soon as you receive it.
After the gallery expires, retrieval and re-uploading of archived files may incur an additional fee.
12
How do you protect and back up our files?
Where supported by our cameras, we record to dual memory cards for redundancy during your wedding.
After the wedding, your files are transferred and backed up across multiple storage locations while your project is being edited and delivered.
We take file management and redundancy seriously throughout our workflow.
13
What equipment do you use?
We use professional Sony camera systems, lenses, lighting and dedicated audio equipment suited to weddings and changing conditions throughout the day.
Our film setup also includes multiple cameras and professional audio recording for key moments such as your ceremony and speeches.
Equipment may change or be upgraded over time, so we focus less on specific camera models and more on having the right professional tools—and backups—to capture your day properly.
14
Can we order wedding albums and prints?
Yes.
Fine-art prints and premium wedding albums are available directly through your private online gallery.
Albums can be customised with different sizes, layouts, materials and finishes, allowing you to create something that suits your wedding and home.
Selected collections also include fine-art prints.
15
What happens if we need to reschedule?
We understand that plans can change.
If your wedding needs to be rescheduled, we'll do our best to transfer your booking to the new date, subject to our availability and the terms of your agreement.
Depending on the circumstances and new date, a rescheduling fee or additional costs may apply.
Contact us as early as possible so we can work through the available options with you.
16
Do you provide RAW or unedited files?
We don't provide RAW photographs or unedited video footage as part of our standard collections.
The selection, colour work and final edit are all part of our creative process and are what give your finished photographs and films the KA Films look.
You'll receive the carefully curated and professionally finished work from your wedding.
17
What happens if you're sick or unable to attend?
We have contingency plans in place for unexpected circumstances.
If your assigned photographer or filmmaker is genuinely unable to attend, we'll make every reasonable effort to arrange a suitable professional replacement from our trusted network while maintaining the agreed coverage and creative direction.
18
Can we meet before booking?
Absolutely.
We offer complimentary consultations via Zoom or in person, subject to availability.
It's a chance to talk through your wedding plans, explore the collections, ask questions and make sure we're the right fit for each other before you book.
19
What happens after we book?
Once your date is secured, we'll guide you through the process leading up to your wedding.
We'll stay in touch as your plans develop, help with your photography and film timeline, discuss locations and key details, and make sure we have everything we need before the big day.
Then you can focus on enjoying it while we document the story.
